Bio
I am excited to begin our learning journey! I am a motivated and detail-oriented educator who is committed to the success of every learner. I have experience developing, planning, and implementing classroom curriculum across multiple subject areas. I am skilled in monitoring student progress, maintaining records to track growth, and using that data to differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of each student. I strive to create engaging and supportive learning environments where students feel confident asking questions, practicing new skills, and building a strong academic foundation. I take pride in helping students build the confidence and resilience needed to overcome academic challenges. Building positive relationships with students is important to me, as I believe these connections help foster a lifelong love of learning. In my free time, I enjoy baking and staying active with my family. I live in Indiana with my husband, our two sons, ages 4 and 7, and our two dogs.
Teacher Specialization
I taught Kindergarten for seven years before stepping away from the traditional classroom when my first son was born. Since then, I have continued working in early childhood education and tutoring students in grades K–5. I have also enjoyed applying my teaching experience and knowledge while supporting the learning of my own two children. I have a strong passion for early literacy, the science of reading, and building the foundational skills that set students up for lifelong learning. My teaching strengths include: Literacy: reading readiness, sight words, phonics, reading comprehension, fluency and rate, critical thinking, and writing. Math: number sense, operations, algebraic thinking, fractions, and word problems. I hold an Indiana state teaching license and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Purdue University in 2009.
