Bio
In my sessions I strive to provide a relaxed yet structured environment that promotes efficient student learning. I encourage conversations that help me adjust examples and teaching approach to meet each student's needs. I believe students retain knowledge and problem-solving skills when they have an understanding of underlying concepts. When beginning a topic with a student, I use questioning techniques to gain insight into where the breakdown in understanding is occurring. After addressing any weaknesses in foundation principles, I complete relevant examples with the student, explaining each step as I proceed and pausing often to check for understanding. With each subsequent example, I encourage the student to become more independent, eventually guiding me through problems or more complex conceptual questions. This teaching approach allows me to meet each student where needed and provide a pathway towards deeper conceptual understanding and skill proficiency.
