Hi! My name is Sheila Stevens. I believe students learn best when their teacher is kind, welcoming, and equipped with research-based instructional strategies that have proven results, offering meaningful feedback with clear examples to guide growth. As a tutor, I meet students where they are each day, fostering both academic progress and confidence through personalized, supportive instruction. My goal through tutoring is to support academic growth while equipping students with tools they can confidently carry into the classroom the next day. I focus on nurturing both excellence and self-assurance by meeting each student’s individual needs and encouraging steady, meaningful progress. I build positive and meaningful relationships from the very first interaction by following the Capturing Kids’ Hearts approach, rooted in active listening, empathy, and consistent kindness.

With over 24 years of experience as an online educator, I specialize in teaching mathematics and literacy to students in grades K-3. I hold a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Arts in Reading, and an Educational Specialist degree. As a reading specialist, I am dedicated to helping students with dyslexia, ADHD, ADD, and other learning disabilities.
