Bio
I believe students can learn in a variety of ways, especially when learning is fun using hands-on activities, and including technology. We need to relate new skills to prior knowledge and then, practice those skills to become consistent and more confident. I want to help students improve and understand concepts to be more successful. I will encourage students to always do their best. I plan to help students develop a "growth mindset" and acknowledge their efforts. We can learn and have fun through a variety of activities, while strengthening trust and growth through nurturing relationships. One of my favorite hobbies is reading. Psychological thrillers are my favorite genre to read. An important reason for me deciding to become a tutor is because I believe the flexible schedule will give me more time to spend with my grandson.
Teacher Specialization
I am certified to teach birth through fourth grade regular and special education. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. I have taught preschool special education for seven years, working with students with developmental delays. Regular preschool, including Head Start for a total of three years. I taught self-contained special education for four years, in grades fourth-sixth grades. I have also worked two and half years as a long-term substitute in first, second, sixth, and ALE classrooms. I have been a Center Director for Head Start for a little over two years.
