Bio
Hello! My name is Amber Thompson and I have been in the education field for 11 years. I am passionate about teaching and making connections with students/families. I have been blessed to teach kindergarten, second grade, and fifth grade. Having taught these grade levels, I am equipped in knowing where a student should be when starting a grade level, and where they need to be when moving on to the next. I was recognized at a "Hype Leader" on one of my campuses due to my positive and encouraging attitude. My goal is not only to educate students, but to prepare them for the real world. I pride myself in building positive and trusting relationships with students and their families. I believe a strong rapport is the foundation for successful teaching and learning.
Teacher Specialization
I graduated from McNeese State University in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. While I have taught all subjects when teaching kindergarten, my core subject in second and fifth grade was ELA. I am passionate about students' ability to read and write. I have taught several phonics curriculums and have been able to utilize something from each in order to successful teach students how to read. I taught two years of second grade Gifted and Talented ELA, so I am equipped to tutor or extend learning for GT students.
