Bio
My name is Barbara Gilmartin, and I have been an educator for more than 20 years. I have experience teaching grades 1–5, with the last 10 years spent as a fourth-grade teacher. I believe every child is capable of growth, success, and making meaningful contributions in the classroom. This happens when students feel safe, valued, and inspired. As an educator, I work to build trust by learning about each child’s interests and using those interests to guide instruction and engagement. I strive to create lessons that break down concepts into clear, manageable steps so students can build confidence while learning. My goal is to help students not only strengthen their academic skills but also develop curiosity, perseverance, and a love for learning. Through tutoring, I hope to provide personalized support that meets students where they are and helps them reach their full potential.
Teacher Specialization
I am an elementary educator with more than 20 years of experience creating engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri. During the 2020–2021 school years, I taught virtually for a year and a half, designing online lessons using Google Classroom along with my school’s curriculum to support student learning in a digital environment. For the past six years, I have served as my school’s fourth-grade ELA teacher and earned my reading endorsement in 2023. In addition to language arts, I have also had success teaching math and science, supporting students across multiple subject areas.
