Bio
My name is Birdie Chesanek and I am from EL Paso, Texas. I believe students learn the best when they feel safe and accepted. I like to make learning as fun as possible. My goal is that students will make meaningful gains during tutoring. I also want my students to come away with a love of learning and with a new sense of confidence. I enjoy developing a repour with my students. My classroom should be welcoming place where students feel comfortable and confident. I like to joke around with my students and encourage making mistakes because many times that is how we learn. I love to crochet, sew, and I do an art form called Repujado. I love teaching because you can make a difference in someone's life. I enjoy getting to know my students.
Teacher Specialization
I have a degree in Elementary Education with a specialty in Reading. I also have my masters in Curriculum and Instruction for grades PK-3. During my time as a teacher, I taught Gifted and Talented classes. I also wrote the first grade Gifted and Talented for the El Paso Independent School District. I have both professional and personal experience in teaching children with various learning disabilities such as: Dysgraphia, Dyslexia and ADHD. I also taught English as a second language classes at EL Paso Community College for five years. After my retirement, I was a private tutor for three years.
