Bio
Hello! My name is Emily Carlin. I believe every student can learn and thrive when given the right support and encouragement. Building meaningful relationships with my students is at the heart of my teaching philosophy, and my tutoring goal is to inspire a love of learning while helping students reach their full potential. I also want students to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills while fostering independent learning habits. Some ways I plan to build relationship are to learn about each student's interests, hobbies, and learning preferences. Students will celebrate growth, effort, and small successes. I want students to be confident and become life long learners.
Teacher Specialization
I have spent the past 14 years helping students build confidence and achieve academic success. I earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University with an emphasis in Mathematics. For seven years, I served as a Math Instructional Coach, supporting students and teachers in developing strong mathematical understanding and effective learning strategies. I have taught 4th and 5th grade, and wrote curriculum for 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade. Even though Math is specialty, I am comfortable in other subjects as well.
