Bio
Hi! I'm Ms. Septimus, and I absolutely LOVE helping students discover how capable they are! With 7+ years in education, I've learned that every student has a unique way of learning, and my job is to find what works for YOU. I use hands-on, interactive strategies that make learning click, and I focus on building that "I can do this!" confidence that helps students succeed in school and beyond. My goal? To help you not just understand the material, but actually enjoy learning and feel proud of your progress! I create a welcoming space where mistakes are part of the process and questions are always encouraged because that's how real learning happens. Born in Haiti, fluent in Haitian Creol and a proud University of South Florida graduate (Go Bulls!), I've even taught English to NY Mets baseball recruits in the Dominican Republic! When I'm not tutoring, you'll find me reading running, or with family. I can't wait to celebrate those lightbulb moments with you—let's learn together!
Teacher Specialization
I specialize in helping elementary students (K-6) build strong foundations in reading and math. I have taught 3rd and 4th grade and understand Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards inside and out. Currently, I work with the OCPS Read2Succeed literacy program providing supplemental reading instruction for K-5 students reading below grade level using the SIPPS curriculum from Collaborative Classroom. I have also worked at the Higher Education level, where I designed and facilitated educational programs for adult learners and managed learning management systems. I hold a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from USF and am pursuing a Certificate in Instructional Design.
