Bio
I am an educator who believes every child can grow with the right support, structure, and encouragement. My passion is helping students build confidence while strengthening essential academic skills. I create a positive, well-structured environment where students feel safe to ask questions, take risks, and experience meaningful success. My educational philosophy centers on meeting students where they are and using explicit instruction to clearly model, guide, and practice new skills. I believe strong foundations, consistency, and understanding the “why” behind learning lead to lasting progress and deeper independence. My tutoring goals are to close learning gaps, strengthen core skills, and foster a growth mindset that extends beyond our sessions. I build relationships through patience, encouragement, and genuine care, celebrating progress and setting achievable goals so students feel supported, capable, and empowered to succeed.
Teacher Specialization
I have over 25 years of experience in K–8 education supporting reading, writing, and mathematics in classroom, intervention, and virtual settings. I hold a Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan and a Master’s in Curriculum and Teaching from the Michigan State University, along with endorsements in English Language Arts and Mathematics. I have specialized experience as a Reading Interventionist, providing targeted small-group instruction to strengthen literacy foundations. I use explicit, systematic instruction to support decoding, fluency, comprehension, and writing while meeting diverse learner needs. I am trained in the International Baccalaureate framework and incorporate inquiry-based learning to promote critical thinking. In mathematics, I provide small-group instruction using multi-sensory strategies and manipulatives to strengthen number sense and problem solving.
