Bio
Greetings! I can't wait to be a part of your tutoring process and be a staple in your student's journey to learn. I reside in south, central Kansas in the countryside where we get to experience the quietness of life, yet are not too far from the city to do fun activities with my family. We are a family of 5 and that includes 3 young boys that help keep me young. I became a tutor to help students in all environments of schooling. In the teaching world, I am fortunate enough to have been special education teacher my entire career, focusing in on the individual needs of students of varying ages. My philosophy in teaching focuses on "What is going to make you successful?" and "What strategies are going to carry on with you beyond your school years?" My goal is to help students feel confident with the instructional strategies learned in our tutoring sessions and take those skills beyond the classroom.
Teacher Specialization
I have been a special education teacher for 10 years total at all levels of education which includes elementary (5), middle school (3), and high school (2). I am a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in Special Education and have a master's degree in Special Education, specifically for mild to moderate disabilities. I am trained in the Orton Gillingham reading program to focus on developmental reading skills for struggling readers. I have extensive experience working with students with Autism, ADD/ADHD, and learning disabilities.
