Bio
Getting to know my students is important, not only to make them feel comfortable, but to ensure that I am supporting them in a way that they learn best. As a tutor, I believe that my job is to encourage students to challenge and believe in themselves, celebrating their successes and scaffolding them through challenges. I have a passion for guiding students to become confident, curious, and compassionate in their learning and lives, and I am dedicated to helping them acquire the necessary skills to succeed. It is important to me to build positive relationships with my students to help create a safe and comfortable learning environment. I enjoy getting to know them and incorporating their interests into tutoring sessions. I was inspired to pursue education after working in various schools around the country as an AmeriCorps NCCC member. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors, reading, baking, and spending time with my family and lovable foxhound.
Teacher Specialization
I have a M.Ed in Elementary Education and taught first and third grades over the course of 11 year. I have also tutored student in-person and online in grades K-5 in literacy and math. I also specialize in socio-emotional learning, incorporating it into my lessons as a teacher and developing multiple SEL lessons as a curriculum writer. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with many different types of learners!
