Bio
I'm a lifelong educator who has been teaching since 1994. I've gone from chalkboards to high-tech classrooms, and everything in between! I tutor because learning is a lifelong process, and we all need support and motivation throughout the journey. Outside of the classroom, you can find me near a baseball diamond. I have helped support and manage a youth baseball league since 2006. Whether I'm cheering from the sidelines or organizing teams, working with young people in the community has always brought me joy. My philosophy centers around four guiding pillars: Engage. Educate. Enlighten. Empower. I believe that learning should spark joy through dynamic and meaningful learning experiences. By scaffolding and guiding their learning, I strive to ensure that every student not only improves academically but also discovers the joy and pride that comes from learning and mastering new content. I want scholars to know that they are seen, valued, and well-supported in their academic journey.
Teacher Specialization
With 27 years of experience, I view my role as a K-12 Reading Instructor, ELA Teacher, 9th-12th College/Career Readiness Teacher, and Exceptional Student Educator as one who empowers students to access rigorous learning through individualized and developmentally appropriate instructional practices. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a major in English/Literature, complemented by mastery-level coursework in Special Education for varying learning styles. I also maintain a Reading Endorsement and AVID Certification. My teaching experience includes 14 years of teaching on grade level Literature classes, Advanced Literature courses, PSAT prep, and SAT Prep. I also have 13 years of experience teaching middle school reading and Literature. In addition, I have 2 years of experience supporting students with the Fulton County School District's virtual learning platform and 5 years of experience using Edgenuity, enabling me to guide students in multiple settings.
