Bio
My name is Sandy and I'm a passionate, energetic, dedicated, and fun tutor! My goal in tutoring is to provide strong intervention or high-quality instruction that leads to measurable academic growth. I aim for students to master standards while developing critical thinking, creativity, and, when possible, collaboration skills that support lifelong learning. I am committed to helping every student grow, and my past results reflect this—last year, my class of 18 students achieved 110% growth in math and 117% growth in reading on i-Ready, far surpassing the 75% target. I believe instruction should be clear, concise, and easy to understand, and that students learn best when they are actively engaged through multiple learning modes. After explicit instruction, I provide meaningful practice through inquiry, projects, activities, and choice-based games that strengthen understanding and increase investment. Each session ends with a brief review to reinforce key concepts.
Teacher Specialization
I have taught K-3rd in 6 countries overseas, and in Canada and the U.S. I taught online during COVID, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have an Associates degree in Early and Primary Education, a Bachelors degree in Education and Developmental Psychology, and a Masters degree in Teaching and Childhood Education. From teaching in different countries and states, I am efficient in learning new curriculums and utilizing the best resources for groups or 1:1.
