Bio
I strongly believe students need to be engaged to grow as learners, and one of my strengths is using various techniques to reach diverse student populations. I was a struggling student for many years, and I am very understanding of the difficulties many students have in their education. As a tutor, I hope to give students the boost that they may need to achieve their educational goals. One of the keys to education is learning how to learn, which looks different for everyone. As a classroom teacher, most of the feedback I received from parents and students was that I was always kind and that my use of humor was very much appreciated. I believe open communication and respecting people of all backgrounds are integral to connecting with learners. I live on the seacoast of New Hampshire with my wife, two college-aged children, and our dog, Sandy. I am an avid surfer who surfs in all weather conditions, including our cold winters. I love listening to music, playing guitar, and being outdoors
Teacher Specialization
I have extensive experience with 25 years of teaching heterogeneous classroom populations both in person and virtually, and have been tutoring one-on-one for the past 2 years with students of a variety of ages. I am currently certified as an English teacher in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire with a state endorsement in ESl. My specializations are in reading, writing, and social studies, but also comfortable in the sciences. I am very excited to help students grow as learners.
